Impeachment Trial Aftermath – Acquittal is Not Enough

With the Impeachment Trial acquittal of President Trump, the typical somewhat sane American is glad the Schiff Show is finally over, or at least this episode.  Further, it is gratifying that the acquittal was by a majority in spite of a certain RINO backstabber from Utah.  But, sadly, the impetus behind this travesty of an impeachment is not over and will not be over unless American voters make it end.
To understand my unhappy viewpoint, we must back up and look at the bigger picture.  Democrats with a few RINO allies have been engaged in a coup against constitutional democracy since well before Trump’s inauguration.  To go through the entire coup would make this post almost as long as the Democrat Impeachment Managers’ 24 hour presentation.  But Jack Posobiec has a good summary of how the Russia hoax and the Mueller investigation part of the coup started.  And I have been following the coup since just after the election.
I noted efforts to pressure and subvert the Electoral College.
I noted the Obama Administration weaponizing the FBI, the CIA, and even the NSC against Trump and his election.
The coup against Trump has been going on long before Schiff and Co. used the plotting Fake Whistleblower to push the coup into impeachment.
Some Democrats have even sought to make it illegal to vote for Trump.  I am not exaggerating. Democrats in Washington State and New Jersey sought to block Trump from the 2020 ballot.
I could go on and on, but the Democrat Party has never respected the election of Donald Trump in 2016, not even now after more than three years. Heck, with the partial exception of 2004, they haven’t respected a Republican Presidential victory since 1988.  And their modus operandi when they can’t get what they want through democratic Constitutional avenues has long been to go to Hacks in Black they’ve appointed as federal judges.  Now an additional method is a perpetual coup seeking gridlock, then impeachment.  Speaker Nancy Pelosi actually tearing up her copy of President Trump’s State of the Union address is only the cherry on the top of Democrat utter disrespect of us electing Donald Trump.
Did I mention I could go on?
In short, the Democratic Party has become an UN-democratic party that only respects elections when they win
It is hard to think of anything more dangerous to a Constitutional democracy than to have a major party that utterly disrespects Constitutional democracy.

History tells us that when such parties do win, there is no guarantee of another free, fair, and meaningful election in the lifetime of those foolish enough to elect them.  Democrats have already been brazen in their attempts to rig elections in any number of ways, including destroying election security and using the powers of the FBI and the IRS.  What would they now do to our elections should they gain power?  Make “racist” incorrect votes illegal? They have already shown a willingness to cancel out the votes of American citizens with the votes of illegals and of dead people.
And even after Trump’s two appointments, the Supreme Court is only one or two appointments away from tearing up the Constitution at the behest of the Democrat Party.  To assume our Constitutional republic can survive another Democrat President is assuming something indeed.
Seeing that we cannot outlaw the Democrat Party as Germany outlawed the Nazi Party, there is only one way to deal with such a party. Americans must rise up and defeat the Democrat Party again and again and again until they either go the way of the Whigs or until they reform themselves and expel the quasi-totalitarians who refuse to respect our Constitutional democracy.
Yes, that may be wishful thinking on my part.  But we are too close to the point where we have no alternative.  We must never allow these anti-democratic DemocRATS to gain power in this country if we wish to remain a free, democratic, and Constitutional republic.
And even if I am overwrought and we can somehow survive Democrat victory, do we really want to reward them with our votes when they have so disrespected our votes again and again?  If you want more disrespect for constitutional democracy, then rewarding them is the surest way to get it.
Far more than policy differences are at stake.  Hey, believe it or not, I have frequently voted for Democrats and respect many of the Democrats of the past.  I still have policy differences with almost all of them, but many of them loved America and our Constitutional democracy. Today’s Democrats are a different breed altogether and one that smells of a totalitarianism that refuses to respect the Constitutional rights of political opponents.  Thanks to them, the integrity of our Constitutional democracy is indeed at stake this November.
We must punish this perpetual coup against Trump and, more importantly, against our constitutional democracy.  If we cherish our freedoms and our right to govern ourselves, we have no choice.
The Democrat Party MUST be punished in November and in Novembers to come.

Here We Go Again...

One would think Leftists would learn that one way to lose the next election is to disrespect voters in the last election.  Disrespect for the 2016 Brexit Referendum certainly hurt both Labour and the LibDems in last week’s UK General Election.  One would think that would be a learning experience.
One would think.
But no.  The day after the election, Leftists took to UK streets to protest . . . what? Voters? Free elections? Those sort of anti-democratic temper tantrums might have sold in the Weimar Republic, but last I looked, most British prefer democracy with their Queen, thank you.
Oh, and here’s where Leftist whining gets beyond satire. The founders of Fusion GPS, purveyors of lies used in the perpetual coup against Trump, these scumbags are blaming . . . Russia.  No I am not kidding:

The founders of Fusion GPS, the Democrat-backed consulting firm behind the famously discredited Christopher Steele dossier at the heart of the Russia hoax, are blaming Russia for the liberal Labour Party’s loss in the U.K. elections Thursday. Seriously….
“Britain needs its own Mueller report on Russian ‘interference,’” [Guardian] editors titled the article.
“The British political system has become thoroughly compromised by Russian influence,” Simpson and Fritsch declared. “In 2016, both the United Kingdom and the United States were the targets of Russian efforts to swing their votes.
But us in The Colonies had better not laugh too hard.  For Democrats and Leftists (But I repeat myself.) are already making it known ahead of time that they have no intention of respecting the 2020 elections should Trump get re-elected.  California Democrat Rep. Karen Bass, for one, says they just might impeach Trump yet again after 2020.  And Democrat House Judiciary Chairman Nadler is openly saying the 2020 election will be rigged if Trump is not impeached and removed.
Yes, Americans might collude by voting to re-elect Trump. How dare they!
All this may amuse, but it should also disturb as well.  For a major party again and again so to disrespect elections they don’t win is dangerous to a country.  And that is the situation in the US and UK today.
This Leftist impulse against democracy and against the rights of political opponents makes me fear what will happen if and when Democrats or Labour do win.  We must not let that happen at least until they transform themselves into parties that actually respect constitutional democracy even when they don’t win.

Boris Wins Big. Will History Echo?

I begin writing Thursday night under the influence of a bit of beer and a lot of schadenfreudein celebration of Labour and the LibDems getting their just desserts.  But I retain enough wisdom to review and rewrite this morning.  Still, I cannot resist wondering if history is, if not repeating, at least echoing.
No, it’s not just booze that has me pondering this.  I am barely old enough to remember Margaret Thatcher’s groundbreaking victory in 1979.  Labour had power for much of the 70’s thanks to the foolish and dishonest Edward Heath.  But Labour blew their chance with obnoxious Leftist policies that ground the UK economy into the ground.
Thatcher’s victory turned out to be a precursor for the election of Ronald Reagan the following year.  The Democrats had power since 1974 thanks to the foolish and dishonest Richard Nixon.  But the Democrats blew their chance with obnoxious Leftist policies that ground the US economy into the ground.  Reagan won in a landslide, and Republicans took the Senate.
Fast forward, in June 2016,British were fed up with the establishment of both major parties who did not listen to them but who were instead beholden to EU Brussels bureaucrats.  So in a shocking upset they voted for Brexit; they voted to leave the EU.
In 2016, Americans were fed up with the establishment of both major parties who did not listen to them but who were instead beholden to the Washington establishment. So, after dispatching Jeb! and Co. mercilessly in the Republican primaries, they in a shocking upset elected Donald Trump as President of the United States.
In the years since, neither the Left nor the establishment of the UK and US have respected those 2016 votes and have worked tirelessly to undermine them.
So we get last night.  Yes, there are significant differences from Thatcher’s election and even Brexit, but Labour did have some power before the election thank to the weak and duplicitous Teresa May.  But they blew their chance with obnoxious Leftist policies with a strong dose of anti-semitism and, probably most importantly, by disrespecting the 2016 Brexit referendum result.  And the LibDems were even more all in on undoing Brexit.
And you know the result last night (with one seat undeclared): Labour loses 42 seats; the LibDems lose almost half their seats; Boris Johnson and the Tories gain 66 seats, a strong majority, and, barring any egregious foolishness, he will be PM for at least five years.  Contempt for Brexit and for democracy were thoroughly punished.
Here in the U. S. the Democrats have some power, holding the House, most cities, several states, the “news” media, and most cultural institutions.  But they are blowing their chance with obnoxious Leftist policies with a strong dose of anti-semitism and, probably most importantly, by still disrespecting the 2016 election of Trump, even to the point of the current absurd impeachment effort.
And . . . you can probably guess what I am hoping and praying for next year – the Democrats being thoroughly punished for their contempt for democracy.  Last night in the UK may yet again be a precursor for the US.  I am not quite yet to the point of expecting that.  But I did not entirely expect the 1980 Reagan landslide or Trump either.
So history may yet again echo.  We shall see.

AND’s 2020 Presidential Election Statement – the Mask Slips

The AND Campaign is a new political group which winsomely portrays themselves as being consistently pro-life, as a non-partisan Christian middle way that has issues with both major parties.
Well, lets see how they do in their recently released 2020 Presidential Election Statement.  The first section after the preamble is “The Health of our Democracy”:

By disregarding standards of decency and good faith, the current administration has significantly lowered our nation’s discourse and endangered the political process. This president’s callousness—especially toward non-white Americans and vulnerable citizens—his fomenting of chaos as Commander-in-Chief, and his cavalier attitude toward rule of law and basic norms of civility all undermine social cohesion, civic trust, and our very democracy.
And that’s it.  This section on democracy is just Trump bashing.  I will leave aside the question of whether the bashing is justified and ask where is AND’s concern about the attacks on our democracy from the Democrat Party?  There has been a perpetual coup against Trump since the day after he was elected and even before.  The phony Hillary-financed Steele Dossier was used by Obama Administration officials to lie to FISA courts in order to spy on Trump.  Then Obama officials leaked and leaked and leaked the dossier’s lies to the “News” Media to try to affect the election.  In these and other ways, the Obama Administration abused the investigative and enforcement powers of the federal government to try to rig an election.  They did so to help re-elect Obama in 2012, too – remember the IRS Tea Party scandal?
After the election there was a campaign to influence and, yes, harass electors in the Electoral College.  Then there was the long Mueller investigation of the Russian Collusion that wasn’t, an investigation that should have been open-and-shut but was drawn out to influence the 2018 mid-term elections.  And now the perpetual coup continues with a secret faux impeachment investigation by the corrupt Democrat liar Adam Schiff, one notauthorized by the House of Representatives, and one in which Republicans and the President’s lawyers are shut out, all triggered by a politically motivated so-called “whistle blower.”

I could continue.  Hell, Obama’s CIA head Brennan was involved in the coup! (And here is a good chronology.) And more will surely come out with the probe of Obama officials having just become a criminal investigation. But I will sum up what has become quite clear: Democrats with a few RINOs are engaged in a perpetual coup against Trump.  They never have respected his election.  Heck, Democrats have hardly respected a Republican presidential victory this millennium!  That “undermine(s) social cohesion, civic trust, and our very democracy” far more than mean words from Trump.
But the AND Campaign ignores all that and instead gets all weepy about Trump’s language.  It looks like they aren’t so non-partisan and principled after all. In the preamble, they say “Christians can hold both parties accountable,” but apparently AND is not among said Christians.
That the AND Campaign does not care about and only enables Democrat Party attacks on our democracy is confirmed by the next section, “Race and Voter Rights”:

America was built by enslaved people and immigrant workers who brought the country closer to its founding ideals through their sacrifices and protests. And yet racial discrimination has pervaded American public policy and the law since our nation’s inception, and its effects continue today. People of color still haven’t fully recovered from the War on Drugs and a myriad of other government sanctioned efforts that devastated communities and weakened families. We must address racial disparities in education, poverty-levels healthcare, environmental quality, and the criminal justice system head on. Central to that effort must be the vigilant protection of voting rights. Voting should be fair, accessible, and convenient for all eligible American citizens, and enfranchisement should extend to former felons who have paid their debt to society.
Election fraud, which benefits Democrats more often than not, is not mentioned.  Efforts to stop election fraud are not endorsed.  Oh, but they want felons, who, yes, vote mostly Democrat, to get to vote.
So whether by intent or not, the AND Campaign enables corrupt Democrat designs on our democracy.
I may just end there for now.  For the rest of the statement is therefore hardly worth reading. So what if AND later makes nice sounding statements about abortion and religious freedom?  If the Democrats succeed in so rigging the system that pro-life and pro-freedom people can never gain power in Washington again and actually enact pro-life and pro-freedom policies, it will be open season on the unborn and on traditional Christians no matter how many nice statements AND makes.  Besides, what is the point of issuing such statements of moral posturing if one kisses constitutional democracy good-bye?
Or maybe that is the point.  It is putting a Christian veneer on backing the Democrat Party’s predations.
Again, I do not presume to know AND’s intentions.  But it is already clear that they are being used to make it more palatable for Christians to vote Democrat and further undermine our constitutional democracy.  That is their real purpose even if some of them are too idealistic and callow to know that.

The Big Picture

Hillary calling Trump’s election “illegitimate” and yesterday’s post about Deep State bureaucrats changing whistleblowing rules to enable hearsay whistleblowing against Trump prompt me to present the big picture of what is going on in American politics today.
That big picture was presented quite well by my alter ego and Daniel Greenfield in the first months of Trump’s presidency.  In short, the Left and the Democrat Party only accept election results when they win. You have to go back to 1988 to find a Republican presidential election victory that Democrats did not dispute.  And back then there were still some sane people in the Democrat Party or at least more than there are now.
And with the 2016 election of Trump, the first President since Reagan to actively oppose instead of enable Democrat designs on America, Democrats have doubled down on not accepting the result and, with the support of the Deep State, have been engaged in a continual coup against that election since before Trump’s inauguration.
If you want to get the really big picture, this is part of Leftist Democrats only accepting the Constitution and the Rule of Law when it serves their ends.
Obviously when a major political party does not accept elections, the Rule of Law, and the Constitution except when they serve the power of said party, you have a unhealthy situation.  After all, we have those institutions so we can peacefully rule ourselves.  We Americans prefer peacefully ruling ourselves to civil wars and dictatorships, thank you.
But instead of a political playing field we once all agreed on, we have the following choice thanks to today’s Democrat Party:
We can have a system of government based around the Constitution with democratically elected representatives. Or we can have one based on the ideological principles of the left in which all laws and processes, including elections and the Constitution, are fig leaves for enforcing social justice.
But we cannot have both.
Thus our country and our constitutional democracy itself are at stake.
I could say more, but that is the big picture.
Have a nice day.

Tory Choice: Boris or Bust UPDATED

As Tories choose their leader, they had better look long and hard at the results of the EU MEP and Peterborough elections.  The Conservative Party did horrifically in both.
And the reason is clear to all but those who do not want to see. Three years after voters chose Brexit, the Conservative Party is still fumbling and bumbling in carrying out the voters’ will.  It looks suspiciously like failure theatre from Theresa May (Now gone and deservedly so.) and company.  But whether from intent or incompetence or both, the failure to carry out Brexit has alienated voters, including much of the Tory base.
Yet, as Mike Shedlock as pointed out, this has not resulted in Labour strength.  Labour is losing voters, too, although not as badly as the Tories.  The very new Brexit Party has taking voters from both in historic fashion.
To get the Conservative Party out of the May morass, it will take (1.) a confidence inspiring leader who will (2.) carry out Brexit no matter what.

Only one man who is running meets both of those qualifications: Boris Johnson.  And he is politically savvy to boot.

If Boris Johnson is chosen to be the next Tory Party leader, I predict the Conservatives will win the next parliamentary election whenever that is called.  Yes, things look bleak now.  But Boris is that good at both politics and policy. (And Labour is that awful.)
But if the Tories choose another leader, especially one who will not get the UK out of the EU by Halloween, then God help the UK to survive Prime Minister Jeremy Corbyn.

----
UPDATE: Boris has just told the EU to negotiate in good faith or forget that 39 million pounds the UK “owes” them.

Does any other Tory leadership candidate have to guts and the savvy to do this?  Normal people love a leader who stands up for their country like that.  That is exactly the kind of leader the Tories must elect unless they want to hand the UK over to an Anti-Semite Marxist.

Post-Mueller Report Weekend Thoughts

I hesitate to post anything about this past weekend’s release of the Mueller Report.  So much has been said by others already.  But I’ve commented on the attempted coup against Trump in a number of venues, so I feel like I should say something.
First and most important, yes, there has been – and, as William Jacobson points out, will continue to be – an attempted coup against Trump and against constitutional democracy.  An alterego called it such very early, well before Trump was inaugurated, and events since have borne out that evaluation well.  Further the coup came from the depths of the FBI and the CIA in the Obama Administration.  As tinfoil hattish as that may all sound, there is hardly any denying it now.

For the sake of our future as a country, there has to be a price to pay for this.  I agree
with Kimberly Strassel and others that the role of the FBI, the DOJ, and the CIA among others must be investigated and am glad to see Sen. Lindsey Graham seems rather eager to do just that. But I am not holding my breath that justice will be done in Congress or the courts.  There is too much a two-tier justice system in place.  That there has not been one indictment for the corruption of the Obama Administration speaks volumes about that.
So justice will have to carried out at the ballot boxes in 2020 in both the primaries and general elections. Democrats and their RINO faux conservative enablers must be punished.  I fear for our future as a country if they are not.  The political punishment has to be so severe that in the future, the likes of Obama, Hillary, Comey, Brennan, Clapper, Schiff etc. will think twice about attempting a coup against the people, their votes, and their constitutional democracy.  I suspect the current attempted coup will end only then.

Democrats Want a One-Party State

With the exception of the Presidency and the almost perpetual exception of the Deep State bureaucracy, Democrats have not had federal and state government under their thumbs since 2010.  Americans made sure of that by inflicting massive losses on Democrats in the 2010 and 2014 elections. And, by the way, a big reason we got Trump is because not only Democrats but also establishment Republicans refused to get the clear message of those two elections.  So in 2016, we did get Trump.
Democrats don’t like that.
So are they going to be like Bill Clinton after the 1994 election and reinvent themselves as more mainstream?  Are you kidding?  We are talking today’s Democrats, you know.
No, what they trying to do instead is rig the political playing field like the good totalitarians they are.  They want felons voting.  They want illegals voting (as they already can in a few cities).  They want any number of measures that enable Democrat vote fraud, such as easy absentee ballots, same day registration, and outlawing voter ID.  They want 16-year-olds voting.  Gotta take advantage of public school propagandizing after all.

Oh, and we can’t allow those bumpkins in Middle America to have a voice.  So they want to abolish or at least render meaningless the Electoral College and give that much more meaning to block voting and election fraud in Chicago, Philadelphia, Dade County, King County (Seattle), L. A. etc.
Heck they are trying to rig the playing field in so many ways, I can hardly keep track of it all.
But what if somehow Democrats fail to get their one-party state?  Well, they have a plan for that, too – stack the Supreme Court so it will strike down just about anything Republicans manage to do and pretty much abolish that annoying Constitution.  So even if there isn’t a permanent one-party state, we will have a permanent Democrat Dictatorship of Black Robes.
And if you don’t like that, SHUT UP OR ELSE. Do you really think we would have free speech anymore?
Again, if we care about constitutional democracy, we must defeat the so-called Democrats, and do so again and again.  (And I say that as someone who has voted for some Democrats in the past. Never again.)

The Party of Infanticide - Senate Democrats Make It Official

After yesterday’s vote in the Senate, there is no getting around it – the Democrat Party is now the Party of Infanticide, among other things. All but three Democrats voted against the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Act, which would have required medical treatment of babies that survive late-term abortions.  No Republican voted against it although three Republicans did not vote.  Here is the roll call.
Oh, and all the Democrat Senators who are declared candidates for President voted against it, everyone of them: Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Amy Klobuchar.
On a slightly happier note, more are noticing the push towards infanticide and are turning against it and against abortion:
According to a new poll from Marist, Americans' attitudes on abortion have dramatically shifted over the last month. Americans are now as likely to identify as pro-life (47 percent) as they are pro-choice (47 percent). A similar survey taken by Marist just last month found Americans were more likely to identify as pro-choice than as pro-life by a 17-point difference.
It is distressing that this country – or at least blue states – has gotten to this point.  But maybe such open displays of blatant, bloody evil are necessary to open people’s eyes.

The Race-baiting Bigotry of Democrats Just Got Exposed

As disgusting as the photos are in Gov. Ralph Northam’s (D – that’s DEMOCRAT, CNN) medical school yearbook, to see the breath of the evil behind this episode one has to dig deeper.
First, these photos got exposed after Northam let slip that he was okay with infanticide.  In fact, one rumor has it that a fellow med school student was so disgusted with Northam’s infantcidal on-the-air statement that he/she leaked the yearbook page. That again is a rumor and unverified, but Northam’s bigoted lack of ethics appalls any doctor and anyone with any ethics.
Second, Democrats knew that Northam has a racism problem. And that even if the yearbook photo was not known in 2017 when he was elected.  Back in 2013 when Northam was running for Lt. Governor, he clearly refused to shake hands with his Black Republican opponent.  No telling what else was known by 2017 but that much was known.
Third, Democrats nonetheless decided to smear Northam’s 2017 opponent Ed Gillespie and his supporters as racists.  The “Latino Victory Fund” (Can you imagine the outcry if a “White Victory Fund” ran racebaiting political ads?) ran an infamous ad that had a white man in a pick-up truck with a confederate flag and a Gillespie bumper sticker trying to run down Hispanic kids and a Muslim girl.
So what we have here is a Democrat Party that harbors and elects known racists while at the very same time engages in vile racebaiting against opponents.
Polite words fail.  But the Democrat Party will do their best to make you think this episode is isolated and reflects on Northam only.  No. It. Does. Not.  The Democrats fooled too many Virginia voters in 2017.  Don’t let them fool you. Know your history, past and recent.  Democrats have a problem with both racism and racebaiting.

Why the Current American Political Situation is So Dangerous

This is a big picture post so I will cut to the chase.  The United States is in a precarious situation because increasingly we no longer agree on the ground rules for political combat.  We have had our radical politics before, such as during the Great Depression.  But even then, and for over 200 years, there was a consensus on the political ground rules – that the Constitution rules (although there has long been disagreement on its application).  Oh sure, Democrats and the Deep State Establishment have tried, with too much success, to get around the Constitution.  But few have openly suggested trashing it altogether.
But now Beto the Boy Wonder has openly questioned whether the Constitution should rule today:

Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke recently questioned the modern-day relevance of the U.S. Constitution and whether the country should still be governed by “the same principles that were set down 230-plus years ago.”
“I think that’s the question of the moment: Does this still work?” Mr. O’Rourke asked during a taped conversation with two friends, which he aired to thousands in response to President Trump’s Oval Office address to the American people about the border wall, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.

“Can an empire like ours with military presence in over 170 countries around the globe, with trading relationships … and security agreements in every continent, can it still be managed by the same principles that were set down 230-plus years ago?” Mr. O’Rourke reportedly asked.
And it is fair to say Beto is in the mainstream of the Democrat Party today and is popular to boot.  Heck, he gave Ted Cruz a good run in Texas.
Disregard for the Constitution is usually not so openly expressed even in the Democrat Party.  At least not yet.  But by their actions, Democrats have long showed they really do not care much for the Constitution and its principles.  Rampant attacks on free speech are only one example of this disregard.
Whatever one thinks of the Constitution (I am a adamant advocate of it.), it is dangerous for what is now the mainstream of a major party to have such disregard for the basic ground rules of political combat in any country.
Allow me to use American football to illustrate.  Football has a number of complicated rules. The purpose of many of these is to keep the players from maiming each other and worse.  Yes, the players try to get around the rules, but there is agreement that the rules are the rules.  And there is today a player culture that frowns on breaking the rules in order to injure another.  Rules can and do get changed – amended if you will – but they are respected during a game even when broken.
What can happen if the rules are disregarded by the authorities or applied with an obvious double standard (or there is at least the widespread perception thereof)?  Well, you get the Bengals-Steelers game of January 2016.  It. Was. Ugly.
We already have a Bengals-Steelers situation in this country.  In the political realm at least, roughly a third of this country has utter contempt for roughly another third and visa versa.  That has certainly happened before. (And, yes, we did have our Civil War.) But what if, in addition, the rules, the Constitution, gets tossed aside?  What if there is not even agreement on the political ground rules of the Constitution anymore?  Well, increasingly there is not.
And we are therefore in great danger of political combat getting out of hand even into widespread violence as Ace has warned:
…If you attempt to ditch the Constitution and keep actual Americans enslaved under a no-longer-American government, expect violence.
Because that's straight-up tyranny.
That may sound alarmist.  But what keeps us from each others’ throats most of the time is agreed upon rules of political engagement.  If one side arbitrarily tosses the rules, why should the other side still be nice and obey the rules?
Now probably the other side should still obey the rules, but try explaining that to them.  If a large segment of the population feels their lives and liberty are under threat by tyrants who disregard both and disregard the Constitutional rule of law, we are at great risk of violence and worse.
Trust me that I hope I am being alarmist.  I certainly hope and pray that the tyrannical segment of the population and the totalitarians they are electing are so utterly and repeatedly defeated in coming elections that they will find better things to do than attacking our Constitutional freedoms and the Constitutional rule of law.  I think that the only good and relatively peaceful way out of our current situation.  But given the cyclical nature of politics, I am not optimistic.
---
NOTE:  Ace sees a “national divorce” of the United States splitting up as the best way out.  I understand that, but disagree for now and don’t see that happening.  I do agree with him that the current situation is that bad.

Look Who Introduced the House Resolution Against Steve King

First off, I am among those who find Rep. Steve King’s (R-IA) recent comments about White supremacy and White nationalism unacceptable.  And I have said so in another public venue.
And I am glad to see Republicans in the House acted quickly to strip him of his committee assignments.
But that makes a serious problem in politics today all the more glaring.  Those in the Democrat Party who defend or even associate themselves with racism (usually against Whites) or antisemitism get treated with kid gloves.  Heck, one such Congressman, James Clyburn (D-SC), has shared a stage with the vile racist antisemite Louis Farrakhan and has since refused to condemn him.  And Clyburn is not only a Democrat in good standing in the House; he is No. 3 in the House Democrat leadership.
And look who introduced the resolution condemning King’s remarks – James Clyburn.

Now the resolution rightly passed with almost unanimous support.  Even Steve King, to his credit, voted for it.  But James Clyburn was the wrong man to introduce it.  Once again, the Democrat Party’s double standard on racism and bigotry is glaring.

Democrats Only Respect Elections They Win

I’m old enough to remember when Democrats respected election results.  But, yes, I’m not very young.  In recent decades, Democrat leaders and activists seem to respect only those elections they win. See 2000.  See 2016 and what is really an ongoing attempted coup against that presidential election.  Heck, when was the last election of a Republican President after which Democrats genuinely respected the results? 1988?
Democrats are yet again showing their colors in openly still disrespecting the results of the 2018 Georgia Gubernatorial election in which the Republican Kemp won by over 50,000 votes.  The official twitter account of the Georgia Democrat Party has dubbed him “Georgia’s Asterisk Governor.” That’s not from California, Washington, Oregon, or Vermont.  That’s the Georgia Democrat Party.
And in case one thinks those are just the rantings of a twitter account administrator, the Democrat candidate Stacey Abrams never has respected and fully accepted the results.  And she was joined in that by such mainstream Democrats as Hillary Clinton and Cory Booker.
This pattern from Democrats disturbs.  When one major party persistently disrespects elections and the Constitution when elections and/or the rule of law do not go their way, the very foundations of the country are in danger.  For if a major party does not respect constitutional democracy when the results don’t go their way, then they don’t respect constitutional democracy at all.  And what happens when such a party gains power for any length of time?
What we have here is a major political party that acts more like totalitarians than Americans.  Yes, I said it.  It’s true, and it needs to be said.  A first step out of our precarious situation is for us to open our eyes to what the Democrat Party has become.
-----
Yes, I have voted for a number of Democrats in the past.  I doubt I can consciously do that again.

A Correlation Between Politics and Morality?

I remember, decades ago, a Christian Right group put out an election guide with the stands of various candidates. It was labeled a “Morality Scorecard” or the like.  I apologize that I cannot remember more details nor find them via internet search.  (Those search engines can be close to useless when it comes to obscure details of history.)  If anyone remembers or finds more, feel free to comment.  I also apologize and warn that I will be speaking in generalities here.

With those caveats, what I do remember is that the group in question was excoriated for implying that one’s votes and political stands are a good measure of morality.  How dare they say politicians who vote wrong somehow are immoral! How dare they say that there is a correlation between one’s politics and one’s morality!

Well, although the group may have been a bit crude in the way they stated there is such a correlation, recent events seem to be proving them right in more ways than one.  It is hard to miss that the recent sexual harassment scandals blowing up here in the U. S. overwhelmingly involve Democrats - Harvey Weinstein, Al Franken, John Conyers, Al Green, etc.

I can hear the reflex rebuttals now.  “What about Republicans like Roy Moore?”  If there were as many Republicans who mistreated women so blatantly, the Democrat News Media would surely be trotting them out and fast.  As for Roy Moore, the allegations against him smell increasingly like a pre-election dirty trick that is getting more debunked by the day.  But trust me, I think a lot of Republicans are scum, too.

And, to anticipate another question, the correlation I see is general not specific.  In other words, there are Leftist Democrats who are otherwise good people, and there are conservative Republican who are stinkers.  Heck, I once engaged in political combat against a few of them.

But to think there is no correlation between morality in public life and morality in private life is fantasy.  Someone who attacks freedom of speech, the right to life, basic property rights, the Constitutional rule of law, the right to defend oneself, traditional Christian values etc., etc. is probably going to be a sticker in private as well.

And now that stink is suddenly getting out and becoming public as well.
